STRAIN
Pineapple Express is better known than it is consistent. The 2008 film made the name famous before the strain was widely available, and what is sold under it today varies more than most. Where the genetics are real, it is a sweet, tropical, sativa-leaning hybrid.
Background and lineage
Pineapple Express is generally given as a cross of Trainwreck and Hawaiian. It is worth knowing that the name became commercially valuable because of a film rather than because of a breeding programme, so plants sold under it are less closely related to each other than for most iconic names. Check the breeder, not the label.
Aroma and terpenes
The signature is tropical fruit, pineapple and mango, over cedar and a light earthiness. Profiles are commonly Myrcene and caryophyllene-forward with pinene and limonene.
Reported effects
Users commonly report a buoyant, sociable lift that stays fairly light, with a mild body effect rather than sedation. It is usually described as an easy, undemanding daytime choice.

Note
Strain data varies by grower, phenotype and batch. Treat lineage, terpenes and THC ranges as typical, not guaranteed, and read the lab report where you can.
Making something with it
Whatever the label says, what reaches you is a batch of flower with its own chemistry. If you are turning it into oil or butter, decarboxylate it first and weigh both the material and the fat, because that is the only way the potency calculator can give you a dose per millilitre. Our Make It section covers the method, and the NOIDS Herb Lab is the kit we use for it.
