PL STRAIN
Granddaddy Purple is the classic grape-scented, deeply relaxing indica. Known for its striking purple color and grape-berry aroma, Granddaddy Purple (GDP) is a benchmark heavy indica for evening use.
Background and lineage
GDP was introduced in California in 2003 by Ken Estes, from a cross of Purple Urkle a Big Bud. Its purple color comes from anthocyanin pigments, not potency.
Aroma and terpenes
The aroma is sweet grape and berry. Profiles commonly feature myrcene with caryophyllene and pinene, matching the relaxing, heavy character.
Reported effects
Users commonly report strong physical relaxation and sedation, a classic nighttime, wind-down choice. It is potent and body-heavy.
