Cannabinoid index · Non-intoxicating
CBG (cannabigerol) is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid often called the “mother cannabinoid,” because its acid form CBGA is the precursor the plant uses to build THC, CBD and CBC. Most of it converts as the plant matures, so mature flower usually contains less than 1% CBG.
Decarboxylation & infusion
High-CBG material comes from specific cultivars or early harvests. See the tabela temperatur dekarboksylacji.

What the published literature examined
CBG’s role as the biosynthetic parent of the other cannabinoids is well established in plant chemistry. Its own pharmacology, including activity at adrenergic and other receptors, has been examined in cell and animal studies, with early interest in anti-inflammatory and antibacterial signals. There is little human clinical data.
What is established, and what is not
Established: that CBGA is the precursor the plant uses to make THC, CBD and CBC, and that CBG is non-intoxicating and active at certain receptors in the lab. Not established: any human clinical effect or approved use; the wellness claims outpace the evidence. This page describes the compound and summarises research; it is not medical advice.

Frequently asked questions
What is CBG?
CBG, or cannabigerol, is a non-intoxicating minor cannabinoid. Its acid form, CBGA, is the precursor the plant uses to make THC, CBD and other cannabinoids, which is why it is called the “mother cannabinoid.”
Does CBG get you high?
No. CBG is non-intoxicating and does not produce the high associated with THC.
Why is there so little CBG in most cannabis?
Because its precursor CBGA is converted into other cannabinoids as the plant matures. By harvest most has become THCA or CBDA, so mature flower usually tests below 1% CBG.
