Answers to the most common questions about cannabis preparation, dosage, extraction, and how to use the information on this site.

General

What is noids.wiki?

noids.wiki is a free, community-maintained knowledge base for cannabis preparation. It covers decarboxylation, oil infusion, ethanol extraction, edibles, dosage calculation, and topicals. The site is independently operated and not affiliated with any product manufacturer.

Is this site affiliated with any company?

No. noids.wiki is a personal, community-driven educational project. Product links at the bottom of articles are clearly separated from editorial content. The knowledge base is editorially independent.

Is the information on this site accurate?

We strive for accuracy. Every specific claim , temperatures, times, ratios, cannabinoid percentages , is verified against primary sources. Articles include a “Last reviewed” date showing when content was last checked.

Is this medical advice?

No. This site provides educational information about cannabis preparation methods and chemistry. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Always consult a healthcare professional for medical questions.

Decarboxylation

What temperature should I decarboxylate cannabis at?

For THC activation: 110–115°C (230–239°F) for 40–60 minutes. For CBD-dominant strains: 110°C for 45–90 minutes. Temperatures above 120°C risk degrading cannabinoids. An oven thermometer is essential , most ovens are off by 10–15°C.

Do I need to decarboxylate before making edibles?

Yes. Raw cannabis contains THCA and CBDA , inactive precursors that your body cannot process for psychoactive or therapeutic effects. Decarboxylation converts them to THC and CBD. Baking alone does not reliably complete this conversion.

Can I decarboxylate in a microwave?

No. Microwaves heat unevenly and unpredictably , hot spots degrade cannabinoids while other areas remain inactive. Use an oven or a dedicated device for consistent results.

Cannabis Oil & Infusion

What is the best oil for cannabis infusion?

Coconut oil (MCT) has the highest fat content (82% saturated fat), making it the most efficient carrier for cannabinoids. Olive oil and butter are also effective. The key factor is fat content , cannabinoids are fat-soluble and bind proportionally to available lipids.

How long should I infuse cannabis oil?

Standard infusion: 2–4 hours at 85–95°C (185–203°F). Longer infusion times (up to 6 hours) can increase extraction efficiency by 10–15%, but temperatures above 100°C risk degrading THC into CBN.

What is the difference between cannabutter and cannabis oil?

Cannabutter uses butter (~80% fat) as the carrier. Cannabis oil uses a plant-based oil like coconut or olive oil. Cannabutter is ideal for baking; coconut oil is more versatile and has a longer shelf life. Both work , choose based on your recipe.

Dosierung & Sicherheit

How do I calculate the potency of homemade edibles?

Formula: (cannabis weight in grams × cannabinoid % × 10) ÷ number of servings = mg per serving. Example: 10g flower at 20% THC = 2,000mg total ÷ 20 servings = 100mg per serving. Factor in ~85% efficiency loss for a realistic estimate. Use our Potenzrechner.

What is a safe starting dose for edibles?

For beginners: 2.5–5mg THC. Wait at least 2 hours before taking more , edibles are processed through the liver and can take 30–90 minutes to onset. Experienced users typically dose 10–25mg. Above 50mg is considered a high dose.

Can you overdose on THC?

A fatal THC overdose has never been documented in humans. However, consuming too much can cause intense discomfort: anxiety, paranoia, nausea, rapid heart rate. These effects are temporary (2–8 hours) but unpleasant. Start low, go slow.

Extraction

What is FECO?

FECO (Full Extract Cannabis Oil) is a concentrated cannabis extract made with food-grade ethanol. It retains the full spectrum of cannabinoids and terpenes. A single gram can contain 600–800mg of cannabinoids.

What is the difference between FECO and RSO?

Both are ethanol-based extracts, but FECO uses food-grade ethanol (grain alcohol) while RSO traditionally uses isopropyl alcohol. FECO is considered safer for consumption. The extraction process is similar , soak, filter, evaporate.

Is ethanol extraction safe at home?

Yes, with precautions. Ethanol is flammable , never use near open flame. Work in a well-ventilated area. Use only food-grade ethanol (190 proof). The evaporation step must fully remove the solvent before consumption.
