TERPENE
Camphene is a pungent, damp, fir-and-camphor terpene often confused with myrcene. Earthy and coniferous, camphene smells of damp woodland and camphor. It is a minor cannabis terpene with interesting cardiovascular research.
Aroma and character
Camphene is pungent and earthy with fir, camphor and damp-forest notes. It is easily mistaken for myrcene by smell.
What research suggests
Camphene has been studied for antioxidant activity and, in animal models, for lowering blood lipids, a distinctive line of research. Cannabis-specific human evidence is limited.
Where else it is found
Camphene occurs in cypress, nutmeg, valerian, ginger and conifer resins.
